Popcorn Chicken Directions
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Cut the boneless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces and place them in a bowl.
- 2
Marinate the Chicken
In another bowl, combine buttermilk and egg. Pour over the chicken pieces and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Mix the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- 4
Coat the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade and let excess liquid drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Chicken
Carefully add the coated chicken pieces to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the popcorn chicken from the oil and place on paper towels to drain. Serve hot.
