Prepare crust
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine 1.5 cups chocolate cookie crumbs with 3 tablespoons melted butter until evenly moistened. Press the mixture into a 9-inch pie pan to form an even crust. Bake for 8 minutes, then cool completely on a rack.

Make pudding base
In a medium saucepan, whisk together 0.5 cup granulated sugar, 0.25 cup cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons cornstarch and 0.25 teaspoon salt until well combined.

Whisk in 2 cups milk until smooth; place over medium heat.

Cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a boil.

Remove from heat; whisk in 1 tablespoon butter and 1 teaspoon vanilla until glossy. Stir in 0.5 cup chocolate chips until melted and smooth.

Pour the pudding over the cooled crust and refrigerate for 2–3 hours, or until set.

Cream cheese layer
In a bowl, beat 1 cup cream cheese with 0.25 cup powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth and creamy. Spread evenly over the set pudding layer.

Whipped cream topping
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup heavy cream with 0.125 cup powdered sugar (2 tablespoons) until stiff peaks form. Spread over the cream cheese layer.

Sprinkle 0.5 cup chopped pecans over the whipped cream. If desired, drizzle with melted chocolate for extra richness.
