Panna Cotta Ingredients

Method

Panna Cotta Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare Gelatin

In a small bowl, sprinkle the gelatin powder over the cold water and let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom.

  2. 2

    Heat Cream Mixture

In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape the seeds into the mixture, adding both the seeds and the pod. Heat over medium heat until the mixture is hot but not boiling.

  3. 3

    Combine Gelatin

Remove the saucepan from the heat. Remove the vanilla bean pod and add the bloomed gelatin to the hot cream mixture. Stir until the gelatin is completely dissolved.

  4. 4

    Pour and Chill

Pour the mixture into individual serving glasses or molds. Allow to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.

  5. 5

    Serve

Once set, you can serve the panna cotta as is or with a topping of fruit coulis, fresh berries, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
