Method

Prepare Chicken

  1. 1

    Season the Chicken

Season the chicken breasts with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder evenly on both sides.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the flour in one, beaten eggs in the second, and the grated Parmesan cheese in the third.

  3. 3

    Bread the Chicken

Dredge each chicken breast in flour, shaking off excess. Dip into the beaten eggs, then coat with grated Parmesan cheese, pressing gently to adhere.

Cook Chicken

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  2. 5

    Cook Chicken

Add the breaded chicken breasts to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and set aside.

Make Marinara Sauce

  1. 6

    Sauté Garlic

In the same skillet, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

  2. 7

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.

  3. 8

    Simmer Sauce

Bring the sauce to a simmer and let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine and Serve

  1. 9

    Combine Chicken and Sauce

Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the marinara sauce, spooning some sauce over the chicken. Allow to heat through for about 5 minutes.

  2. 10

    Garnish and Serve

Sprinkle with chopped fresh basil and additional grated Parmesan cheese before serving.
