Ingredients

Spaghetti

Meatballs

Marinara Sauce

Preparation

Spaghetti Preparation

1. Cook the Spaghetti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and toss with olive oil to prevent sticking.

Meatball Preparation

2. Make the Meatballs

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.

3. Form and Cook the Meatballs

Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a little olive oil. Cook the meatballs until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

4. Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet used for the meatballs, add olive oil and heat over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.

5. Simmer the Sauce

Add crushed tomatoes, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Let simmer for 15 minutes.

6. Combine Meatballs and Sauce

Add the browned meatballs to the marinara sauce and allow them to simmer together for another 10 minutes.

Assembly

7. Serve the Dish

Plate the spaghetti and top with the meatballs and marinara sauce. Garnish with additional parsley or parmesan cheese if desired.
