Preparation

Prepare the Truffle Base

1. Melt the Chocolate

Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and place it in a heatproof bowl. In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer. Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for 2 minutes.

2. Combine Ingredients

After 2 minutes, add the unsalted butter and vanilla extract to the chocolate mixture. Stir gently until the chocolate and butter are completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

3. Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the truffle mixture for about 1-2 hours, or until it is firm enough to scoop.

Form the Truffles

4. Scoop the Mixture

Using a small cookie scoop or a teaspoon, scoop out small amounts of the chilled chocolate mixture.

5. Roll into Balls

Roll each scoop between your palms to form a smooth ball. Place the truffles on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Coat the Truffles

6. Choose Your Coating

For each truffle, roll it in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or chocolate sprinkles until fully coated. Repeat until all truffles are coated.

Chill and Serve

7. Final Chill

Return the coated truffles to the refrigerator for another 30 minutes to set.

8. Serve

Once set, serve the truffles at room temperature. Enjoy your delicious homemade chocolate truffles!
