Method

Make the Truffle Filling

  1. 1

    Chop the Chocolate

Finely chop the dark chocolate and place it in a heatproof bowl.

  2. 2

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the hot cream over the chopped chocolate. Let it sit for about 2-3 minutes to melt the chocolate.

  4. 4

    Add Butter and Vanilla

Stir in the unsalted butter and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

  5. 5

    Chill the Mixture

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until the mixture is firm enough to scoop.

Shape the Truffles

  1. 6

    Scoop the Filling

Using a melon baller or a small scoop, take spoonfuls of the chilled chocolate mixture and roll them into balls with your hands.

  2. 7

    Coat the Truffles

Roll each truffle in cocoa powder or chopped nuts to coat. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Serve

  1. 8

    Chill Before Serving

Refrigerate the coated truffles for about 30 minutes to set the coating.

  2. 9

    Enjoy

Serve the truffles on a platter and enjoy your homemade chocolate truffles!
