Preparation Steps
- 1
Prepare the filling
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and diced carrots, and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 2
Cook the meat
Add the ground beef and lamb to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 3
Add flavor
Stir in minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and ale. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
- 4
Add peas
Fold in the frozen peas and cook for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat.
- 5
Assemble the pie
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Spread the meat mixture evenly in a baking dish. Top with prepared mashed potatoes, spreading it out evenly.
- 6
Add cheese
Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top of the mashed potatoes.
- 7
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the edges are bubbling.
- 8
Serve
Let the Shepherd's Pie cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious meal!
