Cooking the Pasta

Boil Water
In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

Cook Pasta
Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally.

Drain Pasta
Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside, reserving about 1 cup of the pasta water.
Making the Sauce

Add Tomatoes
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

Add Fresh Basil
Once the sauce is simmering, tear in fresh basil leaves and stir to combine. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Combining

Mix Pasta and Sauce
Add the drained pasta to the sauce, tossing to coat evenly. If the sauce is too thick, add a little reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.

Serve
Serve the pasta hot, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and a sprinkle of red chili flakes.
