Method

Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it is ready for baking.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Pour into Baking Dish

Pour the batter into a greased 9-inch round baking pan, spreading it evenly.

  6. 6

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Topping Preparation

  1. 8

    Whip the Cream

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.

  2. 9

    Add Sugar and Vanilla

Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the whipped cream, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

  3. 10

    Top the Cake

Once the cake is completely cool, spread the whipped cream topping evenly over the surface of the cake.

  4. 11

    Garnish

Sprinkle chocolate shavings over the whipped cream topping for decoration.
