Cake Preparation

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Add Boiling Water
Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin.

Pour into Pans
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool the Cakes
Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Make the Frosting
In a medium bowl, combine the cocoa powder and butter. Beat together until smooth.

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate, spread a layer of frosting on top, then add the second cake layer and frost the top and sides.

Slice the cake and serve each piece with 2 scoops of your favorite ice cream.
