Method

Bun Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle in the yeast and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

Add in the flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Shape the Buns

Punch down the risen dough, divide it into 8 equal pieces, shape each into a ball, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  6. 6

    Second Rise

Cover the shaped buns with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

  7. 7

    Bake the Buns

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Burger Patty Preparation

  1. 8

    Prepare the Patties

In a bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently to combine.

  2. 9

    Form the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal parts and form each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

  3. 10

    Grill the Patties

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 11

    Prepare the Toppings

Slice the tomato and red onion. Prepare the lettuce leaves, cheese slices, and pickles.

  2. 12

    Assemble the Burger

Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and condiments as desired.

  3. 13

    Serve

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
