Bun Preparation

Make the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and sugar. Sprinkle in the yeast and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

Mix Ingredients
Add in the flour, salt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Knead the Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.

Let it Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Shape the Buns
Punch down the risen dough, divide it into 8 equal pieces, shape each into a ball, and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Second Rise
Cover the shaped buns with a cloth and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Bake the Buns
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the buns for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.

Form the Patties
Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal parts and form each into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick.

Prepare the Toppings
Slice the tomato and red onion. Prepare the lettuce leaves, cheese slices, and pickles.

Assemble the Burger
Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun. Add cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and condiments as desired.

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately with your favorite sides.
