Method

Cake Base

  1. 1

    Prepare the Batter

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.

  2. 2

    Cream the Butter

Add the softened butter to the dry ingredients and beat with an electric mixer until the mixture is fluffy.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then add the vanilla extract and mix until combined.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Milk

Gradually add the milk into the batter and mix until smooth and well combined.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cake

Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.

Flamenco Sauce

  1. 7

    Prepare the Sauce

In a saucepan, combine the diced strawberries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and water.

  2. 8

    Cook the Sauce

Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture thickens and starts to bubble. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 9

    Cool the Sauce

Once thickened, remove the sauce from heat and allow it to cool slightly before serving.

Assembly

  1. 10

    Serve the Cake

Slice the cooled cake into squares and place each piece on a serving plate.

  2. 11

    Add the Sauce

Drizzle the flamenco sauce generously over each slice of cake.

  3. 12

    Garnish

Top each slice with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of fresh mint leaves for decoration.

  4. 13

    Enjoy!
