Churro Dough

Cinnamon Sugar

Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once the mixture is boiling, remove it from heat and add the all-purpose flour. Stir vigorously until the dough comes together and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Allow the dough to cool for a few minutes before adding the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.

Cinnamon Sugar Mixture

  1. 4

    Mix Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow dish, combine granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Frying Churros

  1. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep saucepan or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the churro dough to a piping bag fitted with a star-shaped nozzle. Carefully pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them with scissors.

  3. 7

    Fry Until Golden

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

  4. 8

    Drain and Coat

Using a slotted spoon, remove the churros from the oil and drain on paper towels. Immediately roll the hot churros in the cinnamon sugar mixture until well coated.

  5. 9

    Serve

Serve the churros warm, optionally with chocolate sauce for dipping.
