Cake Preparation

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Mix on medium speed for about 2 minutes until well combined.

4. Incorporate Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin, but this is normal.

5. Pour Batter into Pans

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

6. Bake the Cakes

Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

7. Cool the Cakes

Once baked, remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

8. Cream the Butter

In a medium bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy.

9. Add Sugar and Cocoa

Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, beating until well blended.

10. Add Milk and Vanilla

Pour in the milk and vanilla extract, mixing until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.

11. Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread frosting on top, then place the second layer on top and frost the top and sides of the cake.
