Method

Crust Preparation

1

Make the Pie Crust

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the unsalted butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

2

Add Ice Water

Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough holds together. Do not overmix.

3

Chill the Dough

Shape the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

4

Roll Out the Dough

After chilling, roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Transfer to the pie pan and trim the excess dough.

5

Pre-Bake the Crust

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool.

Filling Preparation

6

Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, brown sugar, and melted butter until well combined.

7

Add Eggs

Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt.

8

Incorporate Pecans

Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the filling.

9

Combine Filling and Crust

Pour the pecan filling into the pre-baked pie crust, spreading it evenly.

10

Bake the Pie

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.
