Method

Crust Preparation

1

Make the Pie Crust

In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the cold, cubed butter and mix with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

2

Add Ice Water

Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough just comes together. Avoid overworking the dough.

3

Chill the Dough

Form the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

4

Roll Out the Dough

After chilling, roll out the dough on a floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Place the rolled-out dough into the pie pan and trim any excess.

Filling Preparation

5

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

6

Mix the Filling

In a large mixing bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, vanilla extract, eggs, and salt. Whisk until smooth.

7

Add Pecans

Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the filling mixture.

8

Pour into Crust

Pour the pecan filling into the prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.

Baking

9

Bake the Pie

Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. A knife inserted should come out clean.

10

Cool the Pie

Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before serving.

Serving

11

Serve with Ice Cream

Slice the cooled pecan pie and serve each slice with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top.
