Sandwich Assembly

Method

Pulled Pork

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rub

In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika.

  2. 2

    Season the Pork

Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Cook the Pork

Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Add apple cider vinegar and water. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, or until the meat is tender and shreds easily.

  4. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker to keep warm.

BBQ Sauce

  1. 5

    Mix Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, smoked paprika, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes.

  2. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20-30 minutes, until thickened.

  3. 7

    Combine Sauce and Pork

Once the BBQ sauce is ready, pour it over the shredded pork in the slow cooker. Stir to combine and let it heat through for about 10 minutes.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 8

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly if desired.

  2. 9

    Assemble the Sandwich

Place a generous portion of the BBQ pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw and pickles. Place the top half of the bun on.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve the BBQ pork sandwiches warm with extra BBQ sauce on the side, if desired.
