Cheese Preparation

Dipping Sauce (optional)

Method

Cheese Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cheese

Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks in half if desired for shorter sticks. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 30 minutes until firm.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

In three separate shallow bowls, place the flour, beaten eggs mixed with milk, and a combination of breadcrumbs, grated parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix the breadcrumb mixture well.

Breading the Cheese

  1. 3

    Bread the Cheese Sticks

Take the frozen mozzarella sticks one at a time. First, coat them in flour, shaking off any excess. Next, dip them into the egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off, and finally coat them with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  2. 5

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully place the breaded mozzarella sticks in the hot oil, cooking in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, turning occasionally until golden brown and crispy.

  3. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the mozzarella sticks from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping, if desired.
