Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Meat

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork and ground turkey. If you're making one type of sausage, you can choose to use only one meat.

  2. 2

    Add Spices

Sprinkle salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, crushed red pepper flakes, dried sage, and dried thyme over the meat. Mix well with your hands or a spatula until evenly combined.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Binders

Add the egg and breadcrumbs to the mixture. Mix until the ingredients are fully incorporated and the mixture holds together.

  4. 4

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, stir in fresh parsley and cheddar cheese into the sausage mixture for additional flavor.

Cooking

  1. 5

    Form Sausage Patties

With your hands, form the sausage mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter. You should get approximately 8-10 patties from this recipe.

  2. 6

    Cook Sausage

Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Once the oil is hot, place the patties in the skillet, being careful not to overcrowd. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

  3. 7

    Serve

Remove the cooked sausage patties from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy them hot with your favorite breakfast sides!
