Grits Base

Method

Prepare the Grits

  1. 1

    Cook the Grits

In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of stone milled grits and 1 tsp of salt, stirring well. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally until the grits are creamy and tender.

  2. 2

    Finish the Grits

Once the grits are cooked, stir in 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter until melted and combined. Remove from heat and set aside, keeping warm.

Cook the Shrimp & Sauce

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion, red bell pepper, and green bell pepper. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  2. 4

    Add Garlic and Shrimp

Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant. Then, add 1 pound of Gulf shrimp to the skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the shrimp turn pink and are cooked through.

  3. 5

    Prepare the Sauce

Stir in 1 cup of lobster sauce, 1 tsp of paprika, 1 tsp of black pepper, and 1 tsp of cayenne pepper. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce is heated through and slightly thickened.

  4. 6

    Finish with Parsley

Remove from heat and stir in 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley for added flavor.

Serve the Dish
