Mashed Potatoes Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel the Russet potatoes and cut them into evenly sized chunks, about 1-2 inches.

  2. 2

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the potato chunks in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add 1 tsp of salt and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and simmer for about 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender.

  3. 3

    Cook the Garlic

While the potatoes are boiling, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Remove from heat and set aside.

  4. 4

    Drain the Potatoes

Once the potatoes are cooked, drain them in a colander and return them to the pot.

  5. 5

    Mash the Potatoes

Add the sautéed garlic, the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, and the heavy cream to the drained potatoes. Use a potato masher or a hand mixer to mash the potatoes until smooth and creamy. If you prefer a chunkier texture, mash to your desired consistency.

  6. 6

    Season the Mashed Potatoes

Season the mashed potatoes with salt and black pepper to taste. Mix well to ensure even seasoning.

  7. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the garlic mashed potatoes to a serving bowl, garnish with chopped chives, and serve warm.
