Salad Base

Brown Butter Breadcrumbs

Method

Preparing the Salad Base

  1. 1

    Prepare Romaine Lettuce

Wash the romaine lettuce thoroughly under cold water. Dry it with a salad spinner or pat it dry with paper towels. Tear the lettuce into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large salad bowl.

  2. 2

    Add Parmesan Cheese

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese over the prepared romaine lettuce in the salad bowl.

Making Brown Butter Breadcrumbs

  1. 3

    Brown the Butter

In a skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Continue cooking until the butter starts to foam and turns a light golden brown color, stirring frequently to prevent burning. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 4

    Toast the Breadcrumbs

Once the butter is browned, add the bread crumbs, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well to coat the breadcrumbs in the brown butter. Cook for another 3-4 minutes until the breadcrumbs are golden and crispy. Remove from heat and set aside.

Preparing the Dressing

  1. 5

    Mix the Dressing Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, anchovy paste, Worcestershire sauce, and minced garlic. Whisk until smooth and well combined.

  2. 6

    Season the Dressing

Taste the dressing and season with salt and black pepper to your liking. Mix well and set aside.

Assembling the Salad

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In the large salad bowl with the romaine and Parmesan, drizzle the prepared dressing over the salad. Toss gently until all the lettuce and cheese are well coated with the dressing.

  2. 8

    Add Brown Butter Breadcrumbs

Sprinkle the brown butter breadcrumbs over the top of the salad. Give it a final gentle toss to distribute the breadcrumbs throughout the salad.

  3. 9

    Serve Immediately

Serve the Caesar salad immediately while the breadcrumbs are still warm and crunchy.
