Method
Lunch
- 1
Prepare the Ahi Tuna
Season both sides of the ahi tuna steaks with salt and black pepper to taste.
- 2
Make the Spicy Mayo
In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise and sriracha sauce together until well combined. Adjust the spice level to your liking.
- 3
Prepare the Avocado
Slice the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Cut the flesh into thin slices or cubes.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 5
Sear the Tuna
Add the seasoned ahi tuna steaks to the hot skillet. Sear for about 1-2 minutes on each side for rare, or longer if you prefer it more cooked.
- 6
Add Sesame Oil and Seeds
Once the tuna is seared, drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Allow to cook for an additional 30 seconds.
- 7
Plate the Dish
Remove the tuna from the skillet and let rest for 1 minute. Slice the tuna into thin strips.
- 8
Serve
Arrange the sliced tuna on a plate, add the avocado slices next to it, drizzle sweet soy sauce over the top, and serve with spicy mayo on the side.
