Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Corned Beef

In a pot, heat the corned beef over medium heat until warmed through, about 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Toast the Bread

While the beef is warming, butter one side of each slice of rye bread. In a skillet over medium heat, place the bread butter-side down and toast until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.

  3. 3

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the unbuttered side of two slices of toasted rye bread, layer the warmed corned beef, Swiss cheese, and sauerkraut. If desired, add green chile on top of the sauerkraut.

  4. 4

    Grill the Sandwich

Top with the other two slices of bread, buttered side up. Return the sandwich to the skillet and grill until the cheese melts and the bread is golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side.

  5. 5

    Serve

Remove from skillet, slice in half, and serve immediately.
