Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Gradually add warm water and mix until a soft dough forms.

  2. 2

    Knead and Rest

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

After resting, divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball out to about 1/4 inch thick.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until hot.

  5. 5

    Fry the Bunuelo

Carefully place the rolled dough into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 1-2 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Cinnamon Sugar

In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon.

  7. 7

    Dust with Cinnamon Sugar

While the buñuelos are still warm, dust them generously with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
