Build and stir
Place the large ice cube (or several ice cubes) into a rocks glass. Add 2 oz bourbon, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters directly into the glass.

Stir
Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture briskly for about 20–30 seconds to chill, dilute slightly, and integrate the flavors. Aim for a clear, slightly cold drink.
