Directions
- 1
Rinse the Rice
Place the jasmine rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse it under cold running water for 2-3 minutes, or until the water runs clear. This step removes excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming sticky.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed jasmine rice, 1.5 cups of water, and 0.5 tsp of salt. If desired, add 1 tablespoon of butter or oil for added flavor.
- 3
Bring to a Boil
Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Make sure to stir gently to combine the ingredients.
- 4
Simmer
Once the water reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid. Let the rice simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- 5
Rest the Rice
After 15 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat and let it sit, still covered, for an additional 10 minutes. This allows the rice to finish cooking and absorb any remaining moisture.
- 6
Fluff and Serve
After the resting period, remove the lid and fluff the rice gently with a fork. Serve warm as a side dish or base for your favorite entrees.
