1. Prepare the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.

2. Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

3. Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, adding cheese slices during the last minute of cooking to melt.

4. Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, split the burger buns and toast them on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

5. Assemble the Burgers

Place a cooked patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with lettuce, tomato slices, pickles, ketchup, and mustard. Cover with the top half of the bun.

6. Serve
