For the Chicken Sandwich
Method
Preparation Steps
- 1
Marinate Chicken
In a bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Add the chicken breasts and marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- 2
Prepare Coating
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and paprika.
- 3
Heat Oil
In a deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat Chicken
Remove chicken from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off, and dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- 5
Fry Chicken
Carefully place the coated chicken breasts into the hot oil and fry for 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Assemble Sandwich
On each burger bun, place a leaf of lettuce, a slice of tomato, and the fried chicken. Top with housemade sauce and close the bun.
- 7
Serve
Serve immediately while hot.
