Method
Preparing the Pasta
- 1
Cook the Linguine
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.
- 2
Add the Pasta
Add the linguine to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the linguine in a colander and set aside.
Making the Meat Sauce
- 4
Sauté the Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 4-5 minutes. Then add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- 5
Brown the Meat
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- 6
Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
- 7
Simmer the Sauce
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 8
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Add the cooked linguine to the meat sauce and toss until the pasta is well coated.
- 9
Serve
Serve hot, garnished with grated Parmesan cheese on top.
