Method
Preparation of Ingredients
- 1
Toast the Bread
In a toaster or toaster oven, toast the white bread slices until golden brown. Set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Turkey
If the sliced turkey is cold, warm it in a microwave or in a skillet over low heat until heated through.
Making the Gravy
- 3
Melt the Butter
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.
- 4
Add Flour
Once the butter is melted, add the all-purpose flour, whisking continuously for about 1 minute until the mixture turns a light golden color.
- 5
Add Broth
Gradually pour in the chicken or turkey broth while continuing to whisk to prevent lumps from forming.
- 6
Season the Gravy
Add salt and black pepper to taste. Continue to stir the gravy over medium heat until it thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
Assembling the Sandwich
- 7
Layer the Ingredients
On two slices of toasted white bread, layer the warmed sliced turkey breast evenly.
- 8
Top with Gravy
Generously ladle the homemade gravy over the turkey on both sandwiches.
- 9
Finish the Sandwich
Top the sandwiches with the remaining slices of toasted white bread. Serve immediately while hot.
