Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Take the 12 oz. Sirloin Steak and pat it dry with paper towels. This helps to ensure a nice sear. Season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Optionally, you may add fresh rosemary for extra flavor.

  2. 2

    Let it Rest

Allow the seasoned steak to sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. This helps the steak cook more evenly.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat (about 450°F to 500°F). If using a charcoal grill, make sure the coals are hot and ashed over.

  2. 4

    Oil the Grill

Brush the grill grates lightly with olive oil using a paper towel or grill brush to prevent sticking.

  3. 5

    Grill the Steak

Place the steak on the grill and cook for approximately 4-5 minutes on one side without moving it. This will help to get nice grill marks.

  4. 6

    Flip the Steak

After 4-5 minutes, flip the steak and cook for an additional 4-5 minutes for medium-rare, or until your desired doneness is reached. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare, 140°F for medium).

  5. 7

    Remove and Rest

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
