Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet and place it on a paper towel to drain excess grease. Once cooled, crumble the bacon into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Hash Browns

In the same skillet, add the butter and allow it to melt over medium heat. Once melted, add the hash browns in an even layer. Press them down lightly with a spatula and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown on the bottom.

  3. 3

    Flip and Add Toppings

Carefully flip the hash browns over and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the other side is golden brown. Once both sides are cooked, sprinkle the crumbled bacon and cheddar cheese evenly over the top. Cover the skillet with a lid and let sit for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese has melted.

  4. 4

    Serve with Toppings

Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the loaded hash browns to a serving plate. Drizzle sour cream over the top and sprinkle with chopped chives. Serve immediately.
