Method
Fried Green Tomatoes
- 1
Prepare the Tomatoes
Wash the green tomatoes, slice them into 1/4 inch thick slices, and season with salt and pepper.
- 2
Set Up Breading Station
In one bowl, place the flour. In a second bowl, pour the buttermilk. In a third bowl, combine the cornmeal, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Bread the Tomatoes
Dredge each tomato slice in flour, then dip it into the buttermilk, and finally coat it with the cornmeal mixture. Set aside on a plate.
- 4
Fry the Tomatoes
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the breaded tomato slices and fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Boursin Cheese
- 5
Prepare the Boursin Cheese
Remove the Boursin cheese from its packaging and let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften before serving.
Apple Bacon Jam
- 6
Cook the Bacon
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook the chopped bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
- 7
- 8
Add Apples and Season
Add the diced apple, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, and black pepper to the pan. Stir to combine.
- 9
Simmer the Jam
Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are soft and the mixture thickens. Stir in the reserved bacon.
