Ahi Tuna Preparation

Method

Ahi Tuna Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Tuna

In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, grated ginger, minced garlic, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Place the Ahi tuna steaks in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Ensure the tuna is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or stovetop pan over medium-high heat. If using a pan, lightly grease it with a little olive oil to prevent sticking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Tuna

Remove the tuna from the marinade and shake off excess. Place the tuna steaks on the grill or pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your preferred doneness. During the last minute of cooking, sprinkle sesame seeds on top of the tuna.

  4. 4

    Garnish

Once cooked, remove the tuna from the heat and let it rest for a minute. Sprinkle sliced green onions on top before serving.

Avocado Salsa Preparation

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium mixing bowl, combine the diced avocado, diced tomato, chopped red onion, lime juice, and chopped cilantro. Gently mix to avoid mashing the avocado.

  2. 6

    Season the Salsa

Add salt and black pepper to taste, mixing gently to incorporate. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Serving

  1. 7

    Plate and Serve

Slice the cooked Ahi tuna steaks and serve on a plate with a generous scoop of avocado salsa on the side. Enjoy!
