Cocktail Sauce
Method
Preparing the Shrimp
- 1
Boil the Shrimp
In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt. Carefully add the shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat and drain.
- 2
Chill the Shrimp
Transfer the cooked shrimp to an ice bath (a bowl of ice water) to stop the cooking process. Let them sit for about 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
Making the Cocktail Sauce
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, horseradish sauce, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
- 4
Taste and Adjust
Taste the cocktail sauce and adjust the seasoning as preferred, adding more horseradish for heat or more lemon juice for acidity.
Serving the Shrimp Cocktail
- 5
Plate the Shrimp
Arrange the chilled shrimp on a serving platter. You can serve them in a decorative way, such as in a martini glass or a small bowl.
- 6
Serve with Sauce
Place the cocktail sauce in a small bowl in the center of the shrimp platter for dipping. Enjoy your classic shrimp cocktail!
