Cocktail

Rosemary Simple Syrup (makes ~6 fl oz)

Method

Rosemary Simple Syrup

1

Combine 1 cup granulated sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat.

2

Stir until the sugar fully dissolves and the mixture just comes to a simmer (do not boil vigorously).

3

Add 3 fresh rosemary sprigs to the pan, reduce heat to low, and simmer gently for 5 minutes to infuse.

4

Remove from heat and let the syrup steep with the rosemary for 20–30 minutes for stronger flavor.

5

Strain out the rosemary into a clean container, cool to room temperature, then refrigerate. Syrup keeps 2 weeks refrigerated.

Cocktail Assembly

6

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass by filling it with ice and water while you mix the cocktail, or place it in the freezer for a few minutes.

7

Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz Tito's vodka, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, 2.5 oz white cranberry juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.5 oz rosemary simple syrup.

8

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is very cold and the exterior is frosted.

9

Strain

Dump the ice/water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and any bits of rosemary.

10

Garnish

Gently slap a fresh rosemary sprig between your palms to release oils and rest it in the glass. Add a lime wheel or twist on the rim and optionally float 2–3 fresh or frozen cranberries for visual contrast.

11

Serve

Serve immediately. If desired, present with a small sprig of rosemary rested on the rim for aroma while sipping.
