Pulled Pork

Method

Pulled Pork

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pork

Trim excess fat from the pork shoulder and cut it into large chunks for easier cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Pork

In a bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture thoroughly over the pork chunks.

  3. 3

    Cook the Pork

Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker. Chop the onion and garlic, and add them to the slow cooker along with the apple cider vinegar and BBQ sauce. Cook on low for 8 hours or on high for 4 hours, until the pork is tender and shreds easily.

  4. 4

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Using two forks, shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.

  5. 5

    Mix with Sauce

Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the cooking juices. Let it warm through for about 10 minutes.

Coleslaw

  1. 6

    Prepare the Coleslaw

In a large bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper. Toss until the coleslaw is well coated.

  2. 7

    Chill the Coleslaw

Cover the bowl and refrigerate the coleslaw for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Baked Beans

  1. 8

    Heat the Baked Beans

In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the baked beans until heated through, stirring occasionally. Serve warm alongside the pulled pork and coleslaw.
