Cider Ingredients

Method

Cider Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Apples

Wash and core the fresh apples, then chop them into small pieces.

  2. 2

    Extract the Juice

Place the chopped apples in a cider press or food processor to extract the juice. Collect the juice in a large container.

  3. 3

    Mix Ingredients

In the container with the apple juice, add 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, and the juice of 2 tablespoons of lemon. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  4. 4

    Add Yeast

Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of cider yeast over the mixture, and let it sit for about 15 minutes to activate.

  5. 5

    Add Campden Tablet

Crush 1 Campden tablet and add it to the mixture. This will help to sanitize the juice and prevent unwanted bacteria from fermenting.

  6. 6

    Fermentation Process

Cover the container with a clean cloth and allow the mixture to ferment for 1-2 weeks at room temperature. Stir the mixture daily.

  7. 7

    Bottling

After fermentation is complete, siphon the cider into clean bottles, leaving some space at the top. Seal the bottles with caps.

  8. 8

    Carbonation

Optional: If you want sparkling cider, add a small amount of sugar (about 1 teaspoon per bottle) before sealing to encourage carbonation.

  9. 9

    Aging

Store the bottles in a cool, dark place for at least 1 month to allow the flavors to develop.
