Cauliflower Bites

Method

Prepare Cauliflower

  1. 1

    Cut the Cauliflower

Begin by removing the leaves from the cauliflower. Cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets, ensuring they are uniform in size for even cooking.

Make the Batter

  1. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir until well mixed.

  2. 3

    Add Water

Gradually add water to the dry ingredients while whisking to create a smooth batter. Ensure there are no lumps.

Fry the Cauliflower

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 5

    Coat Cauliflower

Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Allow excess batter to drip off.

  3. 6

    Fry Bites

Carefully place the coated cauliflower florets into the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding. Cook for about 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

Make the Korean Sauce

  1. 7

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, and sesame oil. Whisk until smooth.

  2. 8

    Add Garnishes

Stir in the sesame seeds and chopped green onions into the sauce.

Serve

  1. 9

    Toss and Serve

In a large bowl, toss the fried cauliflower bites with the Korean sauce until evenly coated. Serve immediately, garnished with additional sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
