Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickles from the jar and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Combine Wet Ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the buttermilk and the egg until well combined.
- 4
Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients
Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
Frying
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Dredge the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
- 7
Fry the Pickles
Carefully place the battered pickles into the hot oil, a few at a time, and fry until they are golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 8
Drain the Pickles
Once cooked, remove the pickles from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serving
- 9
Serve with Ranch Dressing
