Method

Prepare the Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a bowl, combine 0.5 lbs of ground beef with 0.5 tsp of salt and 0.25 tsp of black pepper. Use your hands to mix until just combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patty

Form the mixture into one burger patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of the patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.

Cook the Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patty

Place the patty on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until it reaches your desired doneness.

Prepare the Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice the Vegetables

While the patty is cooking, slice the tomato into thick slices and the onion into thin rings. Rinse the lettuce leaves if necessary.

Toast the Bun

  1. 6

    Butter the Bun

Spread 1 tablespoon of butter on the cut sides of the burger bun.

  2. 7

    Toast the Bun

Place the bun, buttered side down, on the grill or skillet for about 1-2 minutes, until golden brown.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 8

    Layer Ingredients

On the bottom half of the toasted bun, place the cooked patty, followed by the lettuce, tomato, and onion.

  2. 9

    Top and Serve

Place the top half of the bun on the assembled ingredients. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
