Method

Fish Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

Cut the fish fillets into small strips, about 1-2 inches wide.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a shallow dish, combine flour, cornmeal, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Egg Wash

In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs until well-blended.

  4. 4

    Coat the Fish

Dip each fish strip into the egg wash, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.

  5. 5

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  6. 6

    Fry the Fish

Add the coated fish strips to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain.

Lime Crema Preparation

  1. 7

    Mix the Lime Crema

In a bowl, combine sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, lime zest, and salt. Mix until smooth. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Tacos Assembly

  1. 8

    Warm the Tortillas

In a dry skillet, warm the corn tortillas over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.

  2. 9

    Assemble the Tacos

To assemble, place a few pieces of fried fish on each tortilla, top with shredded cabbage, sliced avocado, a drizzle of lime crema, and garnish with chopped cilantro.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve the tacos with lime wedges on the side for squeezing over the top.
