Fried Chicken Tenders
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
In a bowl, mix together the buttermilk, egg, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add the chicken tenders, ensuring they are fully coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Mix well. This will be used for coating the chicken.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the marinade and let excess liquid drip off. Dredge each tender in the flour-cornstarch mixture, ensuring an even coating.
- 5
Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the breaded chicken tenders in the hot oil, cooking in batches if necessary. Fry for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through, with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the chicken from the oil and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with coleslaw and fresh-cut fries.
