Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or martini glass by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes or filling it with ice water while you mix the drink. If using ice water, discard before pouring the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Muddle passion fruit

Cut one passion fruit in half. Scoop the pulp and seeds into a shaker. If you prefer less seed texture, scoop into a fine mesh and press pulp through, reserving seeds for garnish.

  3. 3

    Combine ingredients

Add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz passion fruit liqueur, 0.5 oz vanilla syrup, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and a handful of ice to the shaker with the passion fruit pulp.

  4. 4

    Shake

Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for about 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and the liquid is well mixed and slightly frothy.

  5. 5

    Strain

Double-strain the mixture into the chilled coupe or martini glass to remove most of the seeds and ice shards. If you like a rustic look, single-strain and retain the seeds.

  6. 6

    Finish & serve

Float half a passion fruit (pulp and seeds) on top of the drink for garnish. Serve immediately alongside the chilled 3 oz shot of Prosecco in a small flute or shot glass. The Prosecco is sipped alongside or used to rinse between sips as preferred.

Shot / Side

  1. 7

Chill the Prosecco well in advance. Pour 3 oz into a small flute or shot glass and serve it chilled alongside the cocktail.

Garnish

  1. 8

If using, press a small lengthwise scrape of vanilla pod into the passion fruit pulp on top of the cocktail for a fragrant note. Optionally place the reserved half passion fruit (with seeds/pulp) into the glass to float.
