Method
Preparing the Salad

Wash and Chop Lettuce
Thoroughly wash the romaine lettuce and romaine hearts under cold running water. Shake off excess water and pat dry with a clean kitchen towel. Chop the romaine lettuce into bite-sized pieces and remove any tough stems from the romaine hearts before cutting them into similar-sized pieces.

Combine Salad Ingredients
In a large salad bowl, combine the chopped romaine lettuce and sliced romaine hearts. Toss gently to mix.

Add Croutons and Cheese
Sprinkle the garlic croutons over the salad mixture. Grate the Parmigiano Reggiano cheese over the top of the salad using a microplane or cheese grater.
Making the Dressing (optional)

In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste.
