Preparing the Calamari
- 1
Prep the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

Make the Breading Station
Set up three bowls: one with flour mixed with salt, pepper, and paprika; the second with beaten eggs and milk; and the third with cornstarch.
- 3
Bread the Calamari
Dip each calamari ring first into the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and finally into the cornstarch, ensuring an even coating.

In a large, deep pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Calamari
Fry the breaded calamari in batches for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels.
Making the Spicy Marinara Sauce

Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Add the crushed tomatoes, red pepper flakes, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and simmer for 15 minutes.

Serve the Calamari
Plate the crispy calamari and serve hot with the spicy marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
