Method

Pasta Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Bucatini

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the bucatini pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Meat Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced pancetta and cook until crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery, and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute.

  2. 3

    Brown the Meat

Add the ground black Angus beef and Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking up the meat with a spoon, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 4

    Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed canned tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, and beef broth. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  4. 5

    Simmer the Sauce

Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Combine and Serve

  1. 6

    Combine Pasta with Sauce

Add the cooked bucatini to the meat sauce and toss gently to combine, ensuring the pasta is well coated with the sauce.

  2. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Serve the bucatini bolognese in bowls, topped with grated Parmigiano Reggiano and garnished with fresh basil.
