Directions
- 1
Prepare the Glass
Start by chilling an Old Fashioned glass (or a rocks glass) by placing it in the freezer for a few minutes or filling it with ice water.
- 2
Muddle the Sugar
In a mixing glass, add the demerara sugar. Pour a few drops of water over the sugar to help it dissolve. Using a muddler or the back of a spoon, muddle the sugar until it is mostly dissolved.
- 3
Add Bitters
Add 2 dashes of aromatic bitters and 1 dash of orange bitters to the muddled sugar mixture. Stir gently to combine.
- 4
- 5
Stir the Mixture
Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 6
Prepare the Serving Glass
Remove the chilled Old Fashioned glass from the freezer or discard the ice water. Strain the chilled bourbon mixture into the serving glass over 1-2 fresh ice cubes.
- 7
Garnish
Using a vegetable peeler or a knife, cut a piece of orange peel. Express the oils from the peel over the drink by gently twisting it over the glass, then place it in the drink as a garnish. If desired, add a Luxardo cherry for additional flavor.

Serve
Enjoy your Barrel-Aged Buffalo Trace Old Fashioned neat or on the rocks.
